PLAINS TEXAS - NEW MEXICO CUP

COMPETITION GUIDELINES
for the 2007 - 2008 Fencing Season

PLAINS TEXAS - NEW MEXICO CUP PURPOSE

The purpose of the Plains Texas - New Mexico Cup is to recognize the best fencers who are members of the Plains Texas and New Mexico Divisions. Only fencers born 1994 or earlier, who are members of the Plains Texas Division or New Mexico Division, are eligible to earn points and compete for the Plains Texas - New Mexico Cup. Eligibility will be determined by the official USFA competitive members roster for the two divisions.

PLAINS TEXAS - NEW MEXICO CUP AWARDS

A Cup will be awarded for the following:

  • Senior Men’s Foil
  • Senior Women’s Foil
  • Senior Men’s Epee
  • Senior Women’s Epee
  • Senior Men’s Sabre
  • Senior Women’s Sabre

The Plains Texas - New Mexico Cup winners will receive an appropriate recognition. The Cups will be awarded at the conclusion of the last scheduled Cup tournament to those winners present. Otherwise, the Cups will be awarded as arranged by the Cup Commissioners with the winners.

CUP ADMINISTRATION

The 2007-2008 Plains Texas - New Mexico Cup will administered by Chuck Slaughter from the Plains Texas Division and Andrew Carey from the New Mexico Division as joint Cup Commissioners. The Commissioners will also be responsible for tracking the points earned through the fencing season. A point chart will be made available to both divisions that may be posted on the Division websites.

TOURNAMENTS

Senior Fencers will be able to earn points at the following Tournaments:

PLAINS TEXAS DIVISION

  • Texas Tech Open Fencing Tournament, Lubbock, Texas (January 26-27, 2008)
  • Amarillo Open Fencing Tournament, Amarillo, Texas (February 9-10, 2008)
  • Crown of Texas Open Fencing Tournament, Amarillo, Texas (Jun 7-8, 2008)

NEW MEXICO DIVISION

  • New Mexico Open Fencing Tournament, Albuquerque, New Mexico (September 15-16, 2007)
  • Nick Toth Memorial Fencing Tournament, Colorado Springs, CO (October 27-28, 2008)
  • Santa Fe Challenge Fencing Tournament, Santa Fe, NM (May 17-18, 2008)

HOW TO EARN POINTS

Points will be awarded from the Senior Men’s, Women’s and Mixed Foil, Epee and Sabre competitions in the listed tournaments. In the "mixed" events, all fencers earn the points assigned for their final place, regardless of gender. The point schedule used will be the same schedule used for USFA Veteran Age Group competitions up to 64th place. Each fencer may count ALL points earned in any eligible event for their total.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE: To win the Cup in any category, a fencer MUST compete in at least ONE event for that weapon in EACH division. A fencer who competes only in tournaments in one division is not eligible to win the Cup at the end of the season.
